Theme: Listen to the Voice of Creation
The bush is burning –
so is much of the world.
Listen to the voice of creation,
with a deep listening that connects us,
with all that is alive.
As we approach the annual celebration of the Season of Creation (September 1st to October 4th) Pope Francis is imploring us to listen deeply to `the grand cosmic choir of innumerable creatures singing praise to God’, and to celebrate Creation’s sweet song and respond to Creation’s bitter cry’.
He adds 'in the name of God, the large extractive corporations must stop destroying forests, wetlands and mountains, stop polluting rivers and seas, and stop poisoning people and food!’ Enough is enough! All new exploration of coal. Oil and gas must be urgently phased out.
It is our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork – we are reaching breaking point…… we need bold action to keep to the 1.5 degrees of the Paris Agreement
The burning bush was accompanied by the words of the Lord. I have heard their cry, I know their sufferings, I will be with you. (Exodus 3.)
