The Religious of the Assumption visited the Relics of St Bernadette at Westminster Cathedral and at St. Mary's University in Twickenham
“The pilgrimage of St Bernadette’s relics offers us a welcome opportunity to bear active witness to our Faith, joining with one another across our many communities to encounter God’s love and find spiritual, emotional, and psychological healing and renewal.” – Cardinal Vincent Nichols
For the very first time, the relics of St Bernadette is journeying on a pilgrimage to England, Scotland, and Wales. This special once in a lifetime event gives us an opportunity to experience the gifts and charisms of Lourdes in a nearby church or Cathedral.
On Saturday 3rd September, having celebrated mass together in the Maria Assumpta Chapel with Fr Michael Holman SJ and reconnecting with one another at the social, the Assumption Sisters and young adults made their way to Westminster Cathedral for the veneration of the relics, night prayer and some staying over for the all-night vigil.
A few days later, the relics arrived at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham on Tuesday 6th September. The day included three masses, recitation of the Rosary led by the Assumption Sisters and the Anointing of the Sick.
Srs Angeles and Bernadette of St. Catherine’s community then joined the Twickenham community for some tea and a beautiful homemade marble cake, as they recounted the wonderful journey they had each experienced with St. Bernadette throughout the day.
Pray for us, Saint Bernadette, that we, like you, may merit eternal happiness. Amen.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
The funeral mass will take place on 20th September 2023 in the Maria Assumpta Chapel (21 Kensington Square, London W8 5HH) at 11.00am
